The Marketing Square Server uses a 130% wind-powered website server to host client websites.
For those of you imagining all our websites going down when the wind stops blowing and that we have windmills running your websites…relax, it’s a much more complex operation than that.
In order to neutralize the environmental impact of the massive amount of electricity used to run the website servers, we’ve done our best to work with reversing it through Renewable Energy Credits.
Certified Renewable Energy Credits representing 130% of the electricity used to both power and cool the servers we use to host our client websites.
Renewable Energy Certificates or RECs, allow businesses to support renewable energy projects by investing in energy-efficient and green electricity generation.
Green electricity generation is power that is that comes from and is delivered to the power grid from ecologically-sound sources.
RECs provide purchasers legal rights to the environmental benefits of renewable energy. An REC is created for each megawatt-hour (1 MWh, or 1000 kilowatt-hours) of renewable electricity generated and delivered to the power grid.
Businesses including The Marketing Square may purchase RECs and formally receive credit for supporting certified renewable energy projects nationally.
However, the initial REC purchase provides companies like The Marketing Square with a traceable and representative legal title to the initial input and environmental green benefit.

RECs track renewable energy generation. Electrons that come from renewable energy source converge into the power grid it’s not possible to track the formerly green source as it mixes with the traditional energy sources.
