Florida sculptor Douglas Bringle said that growing up on an exotic island a native of Terceira, a small volcanic island in the Azores located in the mid-Atlantic Ocean, drove his interest in clay as a medium for storytelling.
Bringle has a particular interest in the art of pre-Columbian cultures, ancient Egypt and bronze age China. He was also fascinated by mythology, lost civilizations, science fiction and the classics. Sculpting clay allowed him to combine them with a style and focus that have shaped his craft and his exhibitions.
Clay is the medium that sculptor Bringle has used to tell stories and express ideas since he began molding and shaping images as a child.
A University of Florida graduate, Bringle teaches child and adult sculpting classes at the Winter Park, Florida, Crealde School of Art. He’s had exhibitions throughout Central Florida and now displays his work online in his new websitehttp://DouglasBringle.com
