There are three advertising no-nos businesses should avoid:
1. TV commercials without any creativity
You know the commercials where the main character is reading off of cue cards OR the spot features people dancing to a funky song like furniture, department and discount stores offer on holidays? You wouldn’t watch it, why force consumers to see that? Use your tagline to develop a strategic, memorable, entertaining TV spot.
2. Websites advertised on lawn signs or sold by web hosting companies for $5.99 a month
You get what you pay for. If you want lawn sign quality, buy a lawn sign-advertised website. A website is your primary advertising point of contact. Go big or forget being found on search engines.
3. Tri-fold brochures with 10 point typeface and low-quality pictures.
If you want clients to learn about you, impress them with branded, strategic, quality print pieces. If your product or service is price-driven, you should take time to create a high quality print ad.
Advertising is your first image seen by your consumers. These are no-brainer, lazy advertising tactics. If you’re spending money on advertising, hire a pro to build your advertising campaign. Ask for experience. Just because they own a sign company doesn’t mean they have done advertising campaigns.
Your image, your quality, your unique selling point, your brand deserves an advertising campaign to show the benefits and why-buys that will resonate with your target audience. You want your ads to SELL.
Step away from your advertising. You are not your target. This is not personal…you’re not picking your favorite colors or fonts or cute sayings because you like them.
They have to sell your brand to a demographic.
Tactics may change but a strategic website and advertising campaign withstand time, the competition and any economy.
