Hi I’m Rebekah Brown and I’m the CEO of The Marketing Square. Today, I want to dispel a few website and social media myths and explain why Florida websites reach more U.S. consumers.
We work predominantly with attorneys and any attorney who owns a website doesn’t need to be on social media working for clients.
In fact, very few attorneys should be on Instagram, on Facebook, on LinkedIn, constantly trying to cultivate new clients when a website can do that work.
Websites vs. Social Media
Let’s explain the choice between websites vs. social media.
Social Media
Social media requires constant monitoring and response to appease multiple audiences when there should be a strategy for reaching the right audiences. Do you believe your clients are looking for a top litigator on Twitter? Instagram? Facebook?
Your target audience may not be on social media at all. If a client is going to invest more than $1,500 into a legal issue, they’re not going to hire you off of social media.
Attorneys That Need Websites
Attorneys that need websites and SEO have legal clients who are consumers vs. a business and who spend more than $2,000 on an issue.
The Internet is predominantly used by consumers who are on their phones, computers, iPads, tablets buying, looking things up, getting answers on Google and YouTube. They’re searching for what they want and researching for answers. They need in-depth and professional imagery and clear information.
Google and YouTube can suffice when you own a website because consumers go there for what they want. They do the searching and researching. And when your website is updated regularly, you’ll be there with the answers—if your website provides the services they need.
Why Websites Matter More in Florida
Now, in the State of Florida, which is number three in the country in terms of size, it’s considered a destination state because of the weather, Disney, Universal and the beaches. This is why websites matter more in Florida. (New York is the number one destination in the country for tourists. California is third.)
Florida Attorneys Benefit from Tourism
Of the tourists visiting Florida, 85 percent come from the United States. So, if you have a law firm that practices and provides services to people and businesses who travel from out of town, a website in Florida is very valuable.
Whether it’s real estate litigation, whether it’s handling foreclosures, or Chapter 11 bankruptcies, whether it’s handling commercial litigation, an attorney website will get state and national clientele when marketed through a website.
Florida is a destination state and with more than 21 million people living here, if you’re an attorney, you have a lot of people to market to. We emphasize that your website becomes a national and even international asset to you as an attorney.
Law Firms That Don’t Need SEO Etc.
Law firms that don’t need ongoing and constant content online include law firms that have business clients vs. consumer clients.
However, that website content should be updated, visuals changed and design update regularly at the very least, annually, to stay polished.
Every attorney doesn’t need SEO, SEM, social media, YouTube videos et cetera. You might have a corporate firm that serves only one client or several long-term clients. You may be locked in with business-to-business clientele. You may have government contracts and your business does not pertain to the consumer market.
Somebody is Going to Google You
But inevitably, one day, somebody is going to Google you and it would kind of be in your best interest to be at your best online and that’s why websites are important.
A Window of Opportunity
There are more than 4 billion Internet users and 2 billion websites, but only 4 million blog posts made daily. That’s a window of opportunity for people to utilize that big marketing asset which is their website to market to the consumers in Florida across the state and across the nation and actually around the world.
Our Law Firm Website Record
Since 2010 we’ve brought attorney clients between five and six figures monthly in revenue, revenue that came from their websites. Their websites work 24 hours a day providing their story, their services, their skill and expertise.
Their YouTube channels share the insights and capabilities that attorneys are able to present to clients.
