You opened a Twitter account and you Tweet. Nothing happens.
You open a Facebook business page. Fill out “Info,” throw up your logo and pictures. Two weeks later, only three people “Like” your business.
Unless you’re a celebrity, you have some work to do. Social media needs to be sociable so that people are interested in what’s said or shared.
Some People and Businesses Share Too Much
If you don’t have anything interesting to say, post a story link that IS interesting.
If you don’t have good pictures to tell your story, post a link with someone else’s pictures.
Don’t post what you just ate or drank or walked past–unless it’s monumental: i.e., had seven-course meal at four-star restaurant served by three celebrity chefs.
Don’t post too much. More than 3 times a day is too much.
Don’t repost posts. Twitter won’t let you; Facebook friends don’t want you to. Once is enough.
Don’t bore people. If you’re not excited about it neither is anyone else.
Don’t criticize clients or other people…unless you’re up for a battle.
Don’t make personal attacks or slander.
Do post funny things.
Do post interesting things.
Do post pictures.
Do post at least once a day.
Do post specials, sales and promotions.
Do ReTweet when you want to share.
Do send direct messages and engage people who follow, friend and like you.
Do Like businesses and things you like.

You’ll see curse words, porn links, porn pictures, scary and weird postings in your feed, but hey, you got your paid Followers.

But you got your paid “Likes.
Do You Believe Infomercials?
Wonder why you got ripped off?
If you want fast and easy, you’ll get it. It won’t be exactly what you want and it won’t bring you clients.
That is the point of social media…attracting prospects interested in buying from you.
But not everyone is your client or your prospect.
So that means you should post what WILL be interesting to YOUR target.
You can make people Like your business but it’s not going to be overnight and if it was easy, everyone would have thousands of Likes.
When you did your marketing plan did you budget for social media? Advertising, newsletters. If you didn’t you’ll have to teach yourself.
Or build time into your day to manage it.
Social media is free, but there’s no shortcut to getting Likes and Follows.
