When you have a website and you let it sit without blogging new content you’re throwing away time and money. Your website needs new content–words, information–to help get traffic. Traffic comes if what you write about is likely to come up in a search on a search engine.
Search engines look for the newest, latest information on subjects. It’s a gamble every time someone does a search on Google, Bing, Yahoo, MSN, or other search engine that what you write may just come up with what they’re looking for.
If you think you can predict what people will search for about your product, write about it. Searches are like rolls of the dice. You write about something and see if someone will search for it. Many times your content will drive website traffic because it’s right on target.
Other times you’re creating new information for search engines to pick up. The more you write, the more often, the more traffic you’ll get.
When you write new content, search engines like it and send searchers to your website because it has the information on a topic people are searching for. That’s the goal…you write about your brand, product, services because you know them better than anyone. You are going to be more passionate than anyone else. You’ll tell your story and the highlights of what you do with firsthand knowledge so that people want to work with you for your services or buy your products.
Websites need constant fresh content (aka: information) words that are new and original to help the site to be found in search engine results.
Several clients of The Marketing Square with very little time, make time to write their own blogs:
Erica Warlick of EricaOnStyle.com is a fashion blogger. She does multiple photo shoots and then blogs about the clothes she features several times a week.
Byron Ruiz of Bymar Shoes has been writing regularly since his website BymarShoes.com launched.
There are plenty of topics and if you can have a conversation you can write. You should write your blog as if you’re talking to someone. Make it conversational and don’t use flowery language.
Be sure to write about your products and tell people the specials or promotions that you’re offering. If you don’t have any, create some. Keep it interesting and keep writing.
